Halibut Fishing Valdez Alaska
Halibut fishing in the Gulf of Alaska from May through August.
2007 second place derby winner, 2006 first place derby winner and 2004 second place derby winner.
Steve Thurneau, is a USCG licensed captain, with many years of experience fishing halibut out of Valdez, Alaska.
The boat is a 2005 30' aluminum boat with stand up head,
outfitted with twin 225hp 4 stroke outboards with 30 knot cruise.
Harvester is a six pack charter boat docked in slip E31 directly below the Valdez Harbormaster's office.

Caught aboard the Harvester July17th, 2007. Second place winner in the Valdez Halibut Derby.
At 328 pounds, this 88" halibut won $5,000 for Rob Rachow.

Caught aboard the Harvester August 5th, 2006. First place winner in the Valdez Halibut Derby.
At 343.6 pounds, this 90" halibut won $15,000 for Kevin Lincoln of North Pole, Alaska.
This is the largest halibut ever caught sport fishing in Valdez, Alaska.

Second place derby winner at 266.6 pounds. This fish was 80" long.

A great day of fishing. A nice variety of rock fish, ling and halibut.
A rarely caught fish. This 5'6" Wolfeel was the only one we caught in 2007.
Lingcod sometimes grab onto smaller fish as you reel up.

It's quite common to see Orca whales on our way to the fishing grounds. Heading home after a great day of fishing. All photos are property of Harvest Charters.
(This is a no smoking charter). Due to the fact that we fish exclusively in the Gulf where the water tends to be rougher, we don't take children under the age of 13.
Make sure you bring rain gear and rubber boots, a lunch and something to drink, no hard liquor, small amount of beer ok.
We sell derby tickets on board. Be sure to have your fishing license. Please arrive at 6:00 a.m.
